Post it Note Holder

Good morning! Hope you're all having a fab weekend, the weather has held out for us here in the south, so I'm happy :D

I bet you're wondering what I'm doing back here? Well I thought I'd give you the heads up that it's giveaway time over at Studio 12. The DT have all made a project, so there's plenty of lovely things to feast your eyes upon, so why not pop over and see what it's all about?

My project is a really quick and easy post it note holder. I think I'm going to make a few of these for table pressies at the next girlie lunch that I will be hosting. What do you think?

I've simply cut and scored a length of Kraft card and then covered it with pretty papers from the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1. The front edge flap has been punched with a Martha Stewart Zig Zag Punch. I've coloured some seam binding ribbon with Promarkers and then glued the ribbon to the bottom heart and the inside flap of the holder. I punched two holes in the top heart and threaded some twine through before layering up with the other hearts. To finish I've added a magnetic closer.

Thanks for stopping by today.

It's Groovy Baby!

Well are you sick of summer yet? I'm not it can stay as long as it likes, loving the heat and being out in the air instead of cooped up indoors. Sadly though it looks like it's going to break today, I just hope it's a minor blip!

Anyway, over at Polka Doodles this week we are celebrating SUMMER, so we want to see all your summer themed cards. The prize this week is a copy of the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD . Remember, that whilst we'd be thrilled if you used a Polka Doodles image, it's not compulsory, so I really hope that you'll pop over and join us this week.

I used the fabulous Taylor "Camping Day" by the hugely talented Emma Canning for my card. As soon as I saw her, she shouted "groovy" and images of flowers and peace symbols sprang to mind. Unfortunately, my card didn't quite translate from my head to paper, so I'm not thrilled with it and keep looking at it thinking I will re-make it.

I die cut an easel card using my circular nesties and then covered it in papers from the All Around & Everywhere CD  .The sentiment was computer generated using a font from DaFont, I simply changed the font colour and printed it directly onto the orange polka dot paper, before cutting it out and mounting onto the card using silicone glue. To give it more dimension I've added some Glossy Accents. The flowers with buttons are taken from the Sundae Of Seasons CD.

Taylor was coloured with Promarkers and I've added some sparkle to her dress with my new Copic Atyou Spica Pen. Her glasses and boots have been Glossy Accented and to finish I've added a little punched flower and gem to hairband.

Well that's me about done, I hope you all have a fab weekend.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Kraft Gift Bag

So did you see the new Here Comes Christmas CD launch on Create & Craft at the weekend? What did you think? I have to say I loved this CD the minute I saw it, so many characters and in excess of 500 papers (yes you are reading correctly 500 papers!!!). My only problem was what to make first! However, as the turnaround time was again fairly tight I decided to stick to fairly quick and easy makes like this bag.

This is a plain old Kraft bag that I picked up in The Range for 50p. I've simply printed out papers and images from the CD to decorate it with. The scalloped border has been free-hand cut - expect to see more of this from me as I love the primitive look it gives. I've got a couple more of these that I'm going to alter and I'm really hoping that I can find a few more as they are really strong and fairly big. However, I suspect that I will be out of luck as I purchased them sometime ago!

Materials:
Kraft Bag
Here Comes Christmas CD
Distress Inks
Fiskars Lace Border Punch
Memorybox Round Buttons Die
Spellbinders Poinsettia Die
Glossy Accents
Soft Stuff
Stickles
White Gel Pen
Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by today.

Studio 12 Thank You Teacher Card

Good morning. I hope you've all had a fab week? I don't think I've stopped for the past fortnight, so when I looked at my diary and realised that a) DS finished school on Friday and b) it was my turn to post over at Studio 12 I kinda panicked! Yep I'd forgotten to buy cards and gifts and had also not made anything for my post :/ After a few deep breaths I thought I'd remembered seeing an apple on the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD, so a quick scout through the images and I found it (luckily for me there was a black & white digi and a pre-coloured one, guess which one I opted for!!!). Whilst I was looking through the CD I also came across a blackboard and in an instant I knew what I wanted to do. So here's my 20 minute make....

I'll be back at some point this week to show you my samples that I made for the launch of the new Polka Doodles CD Here Comes Christmas on Create & Craft yesterday. I did schedule a heads up for you as requested, but the scheduling widget failed me again (I think it's more my fault than the widget though!).

Thanks for stopping by today.

Polka Doodles Olympic Challenge & Blog Hop

Yep that's right over at Polka Doodles we've decided to celebrate the Olympics with both a challenge and a blog hop which is about as much sporting activity you'll see from me this year!!! To enter simply make a card or a project using Red, White & Blue and add something that denotes Britain, then participate in the hop and leave a comment on each blog! Remember you don't need to use a Polka Doodles image to participate, but we'd love if it you did. Oh and before I forget here are the fab prizes that we have up for grabs:

First Prize - Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD

Second and Third Prizes - An Emma Canning Download

This week I've made a door hanger and turned sleeping into a new Olympic sport!!! :D

I started off by paper piecing Millie Bedtime by Emma Canning using the papers from the Britannia Kit which was a freebie from the Polka Doodle Dandies Facebook Page. I then cut a rectangle of paper and covered it with the Denim Blue Paper from the same set, before rounding the corners with a punch. The quote has been generated on the computer, cut to size and then inked lightly with Fired Brick Distress Ink. To finish, I've glued Millie onto the hanger, added a ribbon rose, blinged up the crown and curled and beaded some crafter's wire for the hanger.

If you're also joining us for the hop, then you should've arrived here from Fliss's Blog  and your next port of call is Lou's Blog . Here's a complete list of the running order just in-case you get lost along the away.

Right that's it's from me today. Enjoy your weekend.

Vintage Butterfly Tag

Good morning! The sun's shining, the birds are singing and I'm obviously in the land of make believe! Seriously what has happened to Summer???? My boys (DH & Son) are off camping this weekend and the forecast is just appalling, so I'm expecting lots of wet, muddy smelly clothes!! Deep joy! Just hoping (rather selfishly), that they don't make an early return as I have loads of crafting planned!

Now this is a strange post for me cos it's gonna be my last one ever for Delicious Doodles :( as I've decided to step down from the DT after almost two years. I'm really sad to be going as not only do I love working with Teri's amazing images, but the whole team are fantastic to work with too! Still, I'm hoping that I'll manage to find the time to play along with their challenges and create the odd project using her images too. Before I move onto this weeks challenge, I'd just like to say thanks to Teri for being an amazing boss lady and to the rest of the team for their friendship and on occasions help and advice - I will miss you all. x

So, enough of my rabbiting, let's move onto this weeks challenge over at Delicious Doodles which is SUMMER. Now, I've had to trawl the memory banks for this one, but seem to have a vague recollection that there should be loads of butterflies fluttering around in my garden at this time of year, so you guessed it I've used the gorgeous Butterfly image to create my first ever tag.

I used all scraps to make this tag, so it's definitely going on my list of must do's in the future. I started off by hand cutting the tag and covering it with a scrap of paper from the Studio 12 All Sewn Up Kit. The tag was then over stamped with Versafine Vintage Sepia Ink using a Script Stamp from Kaisercraft. Next, I distressed the edges and lightly crumpled the tag before inking with Walnut Stain and Victorian Velvet Distress Ink and adding some faux stitching. The Butterfly image has been printed out in two different sizes and coloured with Flexmarkers. The wings have been glittered using Stickles Star Dust and I've added Glossy Accents to the body to give dimension before mounting onto the tag using silicone glue. The fern leaves have been cut using a Little Claire's Die and the flowers were in my stash, but I've crumpled them up, added some DI and then popped a button on to finish.

I hope you all have lovely weekend - will be keeping my fingers crossed for those of you in the UK that the weather forecasters have got it wrong and that we will have glorious sunshine!!!

Thanks for stopping by.

Finally One Of The Promised Tutorials!!! How To Manipulate Digital Images

Okay, so a few weeks back I promised a few peeps who took the time to leave me a comment or sent an email requesting a tutorial on digital manipulation of images that I'd do one. Finally, I've managed to find some time to do it! However, I'm cheating here a little, as I am doubling this tutorial up with my post over at Studio 12 . I figured that the majority of them wouldn't have seen this card before, so it's something "new" for them, and gives you guys the tutorial you wanted! Which ultimately leaves me with time to play and create more things :D On the subject of the Studio 12 Blog, have you paid us a visit yet? If not then you really should as there is a daily inspiration post from the DT and if that wasn't enough anyway, there's also some followers candy up for grabs!

So before we start I just want to make it clear that this MY way of doing things - it may not be the correct or easiest method, but it's one I found that works for me! The other thing is I was just going to do the tutorial for Craft Artist Professional, but figured that there are quite possibly a whole lot of people who don't have it. So, the tutorial is actually going to use Microsoft Paint and Word as almost everyone has that and if they don't then they can download Open Office for free and take the nuts and bolts of the tutorial and adapt it. If you need to know how to do this with CAP then email me and I'll explain as it's really simple and will take you seconds as opposed to minutes using this method!

Right lets go:

1. Insert the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 cd into your computer and run it.

2. Goto the Welcome Home Kit and select the Sweet Sugar Sprinkles from the Pantry.  Find the cake on a stand and click on it and it will automatically open in Windows Viewer. Then go to the menu bar and click on OPEN and select the Paint option from the menu.

3. The image should now have opened in PAINT as shown below (minus the words sample) and you are ready to start manipulating your image. Please remember you can click on the images in this post to enlarge them.

4. Ensure the HOME tab is selected at the top and then click on SELECT and choose RECTANGULAR SELECTION. Select the area that you want to discard (in this case it's the cake and dome) and hit the delete button. You will end up with this

5. Now the large white area above the cake stand isn't required so to remove you simply use the SELECT tool for the cake stand and then use the crop tool which is located next to the select tool and you should be left with just the stand. You can tidy up any lines that aren't required by using the eraser tool, but if you're careful when you do step 4 you shouldn't need to do this.

6. Use the SELECT tool again and copy the cake stand. Then open a Word document and click paste. Then hover above the image and right click, select - WRAP TEXT, BEHIND TEXT you will now be able to move the stand anywhere on the page. Simply re-size the stand by grabbing the bottom corner with your mouse.

7. Next you are going to add the cakes. So click on the cake you want, it will open in Windows Viewer, then right click and copy the image. Go to your word document and click paste. Then hover above the image and right click, select - WRAP TEXT, BEHIND TEXT this will enable you to move the images anywhere on the page. Re-size as detailed above. Repeat this step as many times as is needed to build your picture.

8. You should end up with something that looks like this:

9. I would normally GROUP the images together at this stage, so that I can move them around and resize them as desired. To do this, simply hold the shift key down and click on each element that you want to be able to move as one unit, for example the centre cake stand with lots of cupcakes on. Then right click and go to group. The images will now act as single unit. Now all that's left to do is to resize and position as desired, as some text or a sentiment from the CD and hit the print button. You can then trim to fit your card base and add any glitter or embellishments that you require.

I hope this makes sense and will help you to get more out of your CD. Feel free to email me if you get stuck. Please do let me know if you make anything using this tutorial as I'd love to pop across and see what you've been upto.

Thanks for reading.

Playing With Friendly Plastic!!!!

Just thought I'd pop on to show what I've been upto today. That's right I've spent the day playing at The Craft Barn with the uber talented Liz Welch (the nicest lady I've met - ever!!) learning how to use Friendly Plastic. I have had a ball and will definitely be using it for future projects, now I'm not scared of it!!!

Anyway, these are the techniques I learnt and some samples that I managed to make - what do you think?

These are my favourite pieces

I haven't decided if I should make a necklace or  brooch from this piece, but it's my favourite. Followed very closely by these:

I love these fragments, have an idea to try and incorporate them into some of my work and if goes to plan then there will definitely be more made!

Definitely going to use this button on a project and will be making more of them as they were really simple once I'd grasped the technique.

Finally the 3D heart -which is waiting for me put a silver pin through it to be turned into a necklace. I've photographed it on black card to try and get a clearer shot of all the gorgeous colours, but it's failed miserably :(

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope I haven't bored you!

Altered Body Butter Tub & Some Studio 12 Candy

Good morning. I've got an altered project to show you today using an empty body butter container, some paint and the Studio 12 Picknix Collection 1 CD. I hope you like it! Oh and I whilst I'm here, don't forget to hop on over to the Studio 12 blog as I believe there may well be candy ;D Also, a quick heads up for those of you who asked me to let you know when Studio 12/ Polka Doodles are appearing on Create & Craft - well it's Tuesday 3/7 at 8am and 2pm.

Anyway, this supposed to be a short post, so onto my container......

I started out by using the freezer paper technique to print out the Polka Dot Rose Paper from the Welcome Home Kit onto some fabric. I then used the fabric to create the pin cushion lid. The tub was painted with Gesso, crackle medium and acrylic paints. I printed of several elements from the All Sewn Up collection onto tissue paper and then decoupaged them onto the tub. To finish I added a pearl bead string from my stash.

I'm going to use this pot for my fancy hat pins that were given to me by the lovely Clare and the mini buttons that I seem to have an increasing collection of!

That's it for me today. I hope you all have a fab Sunday (hopefully I'm en-route to The Craft Barn if the scheduling widget has worked).

Thanks for stopping by
